DIOR
Dior and the world of sport have, since the House's beginnings, woven an enduring dialogue celebrating the beauty of movement and the desire to push back, ever further, the frontiers of audacity and dreams.
In honor of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Dior is spotlighting these wonderful affinities through fascinating projects, some of which are unveiled at the heart of the Maison LVMH – confirming more than ever the exciting plurality of these founding, eternally inspiring ties.
An ode to savoir-faire, between heritage and reinvention(s).
The iconic Bar suit revisited in blue-white-red
An eternal emblem of the New Look, the Bar suit embodies the genesis and unique elegance of Dior style. Recognizable by its extremely slim, cinched waist, soft shoulders and emphasized basques – enhancing the rounded contours of the hips, contrasting gracefully with the flared skirt – it reflects quintessential Parisian couture.
A timeless icon that has never ceased to inspire Dior's Artistic Directors, it is now revealed in three variations – blue, white and red – borrowing its symbolic colors from the French flag. Crafted according to the original expertise of the very first model from 1947, these creations, requiring over 800 hours of work, celebrate the unparalleled excellence of the House's Ateliers, and write a new chapter in the ever-changing legend of this essential, radically Dior statement.
Dior and Faith Ringgold: a passionate dialogue in the name of freedom and empowerment
“You can’t sit around and wait for somebody to say who you are. You need to write it and paint it and do it.” Faith Ringgold
Since 2022, Maria Grazia Chiuri has forged a passionate creative dialogue with Faith Ringgold, feminist artist, activist and teacher (who passed away on April 12, 2024).
The work created especially for Dior and the Maison LVMH for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 reinterprets Freedom Woman Now, dreamed up in 1971 by the African-American artist. It was one of her first creations to incorporate text, in interwoven triangle patterns inspired by Central African Kuba weaving.
Revealed in the form of flags, in shades of blue, white and red, this ultra-contemporary reinvention is enriched by the words "Femme" and "Liberté" (in French) and "2024", forging new links between the world's cultures and generations. A tribute to Faith Ringgold's powerful vision, through the prism of empowerment, from freedom to self-assertion.
Dior Amphoras: odes to French excellence
The legendary Amphores Tricolores conceived by Christian Dior, starting in 1949, are now reissued – for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 – in a limited, numbered edition, magnifying three iconic Dior fragrances: L'Or de J'adore, Miss Dior and Diorissimo.
These objects of art and desire – illustrating the diversity and excellence of the House’s savoir-faire – highlight the Bohemian crystal with which they are crafted, through an entrancing interplay of transparency. Dressed in cobalt blue, opaline white and carmine red – echoing the colors of the French flag – these exceptional cases pay tribute to the captivating alliances that unite Dior and Paris. A virtuoso triptych at the convergence of haute parfumerie//fine perfumery and artistic craftsmanship.
